We are currently in beautiful Slovenia, living in a small village in a rural area. It is peaceful, green and very relaxing here, the contrast to city life is huge.
In the pictures Slovenia looked amazingly beautiful and I must say have not been disappointed.
Slovenia has a population of 2.06 million. It is a parliamentary republic and a member of the United Nations, European Union, and NATO. The capital and largest city is Ljubljana.
Over half of the country is covered by forests. This makes Slovenia the third most forested country in Europe, after Finland and Sweden.
Slovenia is in an active seismic zone because of its position on the small Adriatic Plate, which is squeezed between the Eurasian Plate to the north and the African Plate to the south and rotates counter-clockwise. Scientists have been able to identify 60 destructive earthquakes in the past. Additionally, a network of seismic stations is active throughout the country.
